Seed Quality Enhancement

Abstract With the expansion of precision and intensive agriculture, seed quality, which alone could contribute up to 15–20 per cent in terms crop productivity, has assumed greater importance. Every care is taken not only produce high-quality seeds maintain same through various stages production, from growing conditions pre-harvest, harvest, processing storage activities, but also adopt certain technologies further improve performance upon sowing under a wide range environments. These technologies, collectively known as ‘enhancement’, cover variety methods applicable different species aimed at meeting specific requirements, such unfavourable hard/acidic/sodic soil, high or low temperature, excess deficient rainfall, etc., well stress imposed by presence pests diseases that affect performance, particularly during early vegetative stage resulting poor emergence, establishment growth. Selection appropriate cost-effective important accruing best results enhancement.
